One of the most heartwarming highlights of the event was the Fancy Dress Competition, where little Gurukulites transformed into inspiring characters using handmade costumes. From freedom fighters to nature-themed representations, the costumes reflected imagination, effort, and a strong connection to cultural and social themes. The students not only dressed up creatively but also confidently presented their characters on stage, leaving the audience in awe.

The event was graced by esteemed guests — Mr. Avinash, Ms. Shashi Kumari, and Ms. Nagashree, whose presence elevated the spirit of the celebration. At Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Hyderabad, the birthday of Dikshit was celebrated with great joy, devotion, and spiritual fervor. At Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Bangalore, every new beginning is celebrated with heartfelt devotion, warmth, and the spirit of brotherhood. To help the new students feel truly welcomed into the Gurukul family, a special welcome party was organized — blending spiritual tradition with joy, food, and fellowship.

The day began with all students gathering peacefully in the temple, where they offered their prayers with gratitude. Together, they sang a soulful kirtan, dedicating the delicious meal to Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan, filling the temple with divine vibrations and a sense of unity.

After the sacred offering, the celebration moved to the cricket ground, which had been beautifully prepared for the occasion. The best part was that this treat was lovingly arranged by the old students for their new juniors, as a gesture of friendship and care.

The open field came alive with laughter and chatter as students formed small groups, sitting together on mats under the vast sky. Sharing the meal in these groups added to the warmth, as new friendships blossomed and everyone bonded over stories and jokes.

The event was organised to honour the invaluable role of Gurus who lead us from ignorance to enlightenment, and to reaffirm the Gurukul tradition of Sanskar, Shiksha, and Seva.
The celebration began with a peaceful and spiritual ambience in the prayer hall, beautifully decorated with flowers, lamps, and rangolis. Students, teachers, and spiritual mentors gathered in full traditional attire to offer their devotion and gratitude.
Programme Highlights:
1. Kirtan – “Gurudev Tumhara Charno Mein”:
The program began with a soul-touching kirtan – “Gurudev Tumhara Charno Mein”, performed by the students. The bhajan created a spiritually uplifting atmosphere and set the tone for the day.
2. Poojan of Shastriji Maharaj and Guru Maharaj:
A symbolic and sacred Poojan was performed by selected students, offering flowers and chanting prayers at the feet of Shastriji Maharaj and Gurumaharaj, as a mark of respect and devotion.
3. Guruvandana – Group Action Song:
All students came together to perform a group action song titled “Guruvandana,” filled with energy and gratitude. The synchronised gestures and devotional lyrics reflected the students’ heartfelt emotions towards their Guru.
4. Speeches by Students:
Selected students from different grades shared their thoughts on the greatness of a Guru and the significance of Guru Purnima.
• Siddhant P B spoke on the spiritual connection with Guru and how it shapes one’s life.
• Sai Bhaskar highlighted Gurukul traditions and values learned from our spiritual leaders.
• Jagan emphasized the role of the Guru in academic and moral development.

5. Video Session – “All Credits Go to Guru”:
A heartwarming video session was presented, titled “All Credits Go to Guru”, showcasing the inspiring journey of the students under the guidance of the Gurus. The visuals reflected how every achievement and value in life is deeply rooted in the blessings and teachings of the Guru.
6. Divine Blessings by Swamiji:
The most awaited part of the day was the divine blessings of Swamiji. His address reminded everyone of the timeless bond between the Guru and disciple. Swamiji encouraged students to walk on the path of righteousness, humility, and continuous learning under Guru’s guidance.
7. Poojan and Pranam by All Students:
As a concluding spiritual ritual, all students performed poojan and pranam, offering flowers at the lotus feet of the Guru and seeking blessings for wisdom, strength, and inner purity. The hall echoed with chants and heartfelt reverence.

The festival commemorates the divine journey of Lord Jagannath, along with his siblings Balabhadra and Subhadra, as they travel from their main temple to the Gundicha Temple in grand chariots. At Gurukul Gulbarga, this tradition was recreated with a vibrant procession where students pulled the sacred rath from the Gurukul campus to Ganesh Mandir, symbolizing the spiritual journey of the soul towards the divine.

Students from Classes IV to X participated with immense enthusiasm. Dressed in traditional attire, they chanted kirtans and bhajans while pulling the rath with ropes, embodying the true spirit of seva (selfless service) and bhakti (devotion). The devotional fervor and cultural energy were palpable as the sounds of conch shells, bells, and mridangam filled the air, creating a spiritually charged atmosphere.

The highlight of the event was the Yatra with Devotion, which resonated deeply with both participants and viewers. This sacred walk was not just symbolic but also transformative—connecting the students with the values of humility, surrender, and joy in service, as exemplified in the original Jagannath Yatra.

Under the guidance and blessings of Pujya Mahant Swamiji, the preparation of the Rasoi was done with utmost devotion and enthusiasm. The kitchen team and students came together to help in various ways, from cutting vegetables to arranging the dining area neatly and making sure every little detail reflected the values of our Gurukul.

As the Rasoi began, the aroma of the delicious dishes filled the entire campus. Everyone gathered with great excitement, and the joy on the faces of the students was truly heart-touching. The menu was carefully planned, offering a variety of tasty and wholesome items that everyone enjoyed wholeheartedly. The Rasoi was served in the traditional way, with love and respect. Pujya Mahant Swamiji’s presence made the atmosphere divine; his blessings and occasional words of wisdom added spiritual flavour to the tasty meals.

After the Rasoi, Swamiji interacted with the students, asking about their studies, well-being, and experiences. This personal touch strengthened the bond between the students and Swamiji, making them feel valued and cared for. The second night’s Rasoi was equally delightful. The students felt lucky to have such an opportunity to sit together, share food, and feel the warmth of our Gurukul family under the divine blessings of Swamiji.

These Rasois not only satisfied our hunger but also nourished our hearts with love, unity, and devotion. The memories of these nights will remain with us for a long time, reminding us of the joy of togetherness and the importance of gratitude and humility. Students from both Primary and High School participated with great enthusiasm. The top 3 students from the Primary wing and 3 students from High School were awarded appreciation certificates and small prizes for their outstanding work.

Swamijis and teachers personally appreciated the young artists, making it a moment of joy and inspiration. The event beautifully combined creativity with devotion and left a meaningful impression on all.
